Privacy Policy

The privacy of our members and donors is a top priority.  We are committed to protecting the information you give us, and we do not share individual date (names, addresses, demographics) without your consent.  We never sell or give our mailing lists to other organizations or individuals.

How Do We Use the Information We Collect?

When you become a member of MDSN, donate to our organization, or request information about, or participate in our offerings, we will ask for your name, address, email address, and telephone number.  We may also request some demographic information such as gender, age of the individual with Down syndrome and siblings, and other information about your family.  The demographic information (gender, age, etc.) may be used for reporting and grant writing purposes.  For example, we may tell a potential funder that 25% of our members reside in Cumberland County, and that the median age of individuals with Down syndrome who attend our Annual Buddy Walks is 9.  We do not release individual data for reporting or funding purposes.  If you request information or help for a particular individual and give permission, we may share the individual data with a parent support volunteer or another agency that may offer appropriate services.

Our Use of Website Log Files

When you visit our Website (www.dsmaine.org) we automatically log your IP address, your browser type and your access times.  We need this information to conduct site performance evaluations, to see where visitors are coming from, and to keep track of click stream data (the screens our users visit on our site.).  This helps us to determine what content our members find most appealing so that we can optimize your usage of the site.  Like most websites, ours contains links to other websites.  Please note that when you click on one of these links, you may be leaving MDSN’s site, and entering another website.  These sites may independently collect or request information about you, and we encourage you to read the privacy statements of these linked sites, as their privacy policy may differ from ours.

Communication

From time to time we may send out email messages soliciting your support, prompting a call to action, or alerting you of MDSN events.  In addition, you may receive communications from us, if you have contacted us for information or help.

Consent

By becoming a member or donor to MDSN, and/or by using our website, you consent to the collection and use of the information you provide to us as described above.  If we make material changes to our privacy policy, or in how we use your personally identifiable information, we will post a prominent notice on our website or social media prior to implementing the change.

If you prefer NOT to receive any information from us, please contact us at info@dsmaine.org, or write us at MDSN, P.O.Box 705, Windham, ME  04062
